Elbdeich - Cycle route

From the hotel, you first cycle through the old Elbe tunnel. Did you know that the Elbe Tunnel opened for the first time in 1911 and is 21 metres below the earth's surface? By bike, you can quickly reach the other side of the Elbe at only 426 metres. Once you reach the other side of the Elbe, you have a breathtaking panoramic view of Hamburg harbour and the city districts beyond. Passing through Veddel via Rothenburgsort, you will always be on the waterfront in the direction of Dove Elbe. Continue straight ahead to the "Die Reit" nature reserve. Here the Dove Elbe flows into the Gose Elbe. Now you just have to decide whether you want to cycle through the more than 40-year-old nature reserve or along the water. The fork in the road will help you here. On the left you come to Ochsenwerder Norddeich, which you follow until you reach Oortkatenweg on the right. At the end of the path you will come to Oortkaten Lake. Here, the Süd -/ and Norderelbe flow on again into a single unit called "Elbe". You can now return via the Gauerter Hauptdeich along the waterfront. Via Rothenburgsort, along the Oberhafenkanal and the Zollkanal, you will pass the Portugiesenviertel, perfect for dinner. From here it is not far to the hotel.

At this point, you should park your bike for a moment and continue on foot. Because here, as the name suggests, it's a case of climbing stairs.
