About Hamburg

What comes to your mind first when you think of Hamburg?

Probably its special location between the lake Alster and the river Elbe or the liveliness in the famous St. Pauli district with its Reeperbahn or unforgettable evenings at a theatre or musical show or the cities trademark, the “Michel” or perhaps the harbour with its busy, international flair.

The mor then 850 year old city of Hamburg is valued by all visitors alike. The traditional storehouses in the “Speicherstadt” are appreciated as well as the club scene in St. Pauli. Hamburg has always been very open to all kinds of influences.

Right from the start Hamburg’s by now century old tradition as an independent city state has played an important role in its political and cultural development. As an important economical hub with its overseas harbour and its role as media and culture centre the metropolis on the Elbe ties in with it’s own great traditions boasting typical Hanseatic self esteem. Not surprisingly, as Germany’s second largest city (1.8 million inhabitants) Hamburg offers highest quality of life in an international ambiance. Boredom is practically unknown.

The EMPIRE RIVERSIDE HOTEL is by all means the perfect starting point for an expedition around the vibrating metropolis as you are only a stone’s throw away from all the sites that make Hamburg as special as it is.
