What could be nicer in autumn than a long walk in the park? From the Empire Riverside Hotel, it’s about a 10-minute walk straight to the entrance of Planten un Blomen, and you can stroll through Hamburg’s most beautiful autumn scenery all the way to the Schanzenviertel.
It’s finally Pumpkin Spice Latte season again! But where in Hamburg can you find the best one? Find out for yourself and do a taste test. Right on the doorstep of the Empire Riverside Hotel, you’ll already find a few places serving this delicious autumn-flavoured coffee.
Our recommendations for a cosy visit to a café or a takeaway cup for your next autumn stroll:
1. The Special Connection – fancy a Pumpkin Spice Latte straight after the fish market? Located right at Fischmarkt 11, this is the perfect place to stop for breakfast after this Hamburg must-do.2. Milch – Retro charm and Pumpkin Spice Lattes await you here, right in the heart of the Portuguese Quarter.
3. Brühwerk – Fancy a Pumpkin Spice Latte whilst enjoying a long shopping trip through the city centre? Brühwerk is just a stone’s throw away from the Europa Passage and Spitalerstraße.
Tip: Take your hot drink to go and sit by the Binnenalster, just a few metres behind the café!4. Good One Café – Delicious breakfast & Pumpkin Spice Latte in the trendy Schanzenviertel neighbourhood. Perfect for those who love a browse, as you can wander over to the weekly Saturday flea market opposite, the Floschanze.

Whether during the blooming season until the end of September or afterwards, when the heath is covered in a blaze of autumn colours, a trip to the Lüneburg Heath is an absolute highlight during the Golden Season. From our hotel, you can reach the hiking parking lot in Bispingen in just over an hour’s drive and set off on your heath adventure straight from there.
Insider tip: After your walk, the café “Mein Teegarten” is the perfect place to unwind with a coffee and cake in a cosy garden – including sweet little chickens running around.The Stadtpark is the perfect place to experience the full splendour of autumn in Hamburg. Across 150 hectares, you can escape the hectic pace of city life and immerse yourself in a sea of warm autumn colours. Stroll around the Stadtpark lake or pop into Landhaus Walter for a teatime break.
A particular highlight of a trip to the Stadtpark? A visit to the planetarium, which can be reached quickly from the Empire Riverside Hotel via the U3 from St. Pauli or Landungsbrücken underground stations to Borgweg in just under half an hour. There, you can not only discover the ever-changing programme of shows at the Hamburg Planetarium, but also enjoy the views from the observation deck of the majestic building, taking in the colourful trees of the park and Hamburg’s golden rooftops all the way to the harbour.
Every year, I look forward to autumn in Hamburg—for me, it’s simply the best time to cozy up in cute cafés, sip a pumpkin spice latte, and stroll through the city’s colorful parks.
