On August 14th we hosted our cooking duel in the restaurant waterkant. The duel was for anyone who cooks passionately and wants to be part of our team. During the cooking duel, the candidates were able to prove their talent and abilities directly at the stove. The award was an attractive employment contract and the chance to be part of our restaurant.
The applicants were invited to the waterkant on August 14 where the cooking duel began with an introduction. Our menu, the concept, the show kitchen and the waterkant team were presented. The candidates were given the task to prove their creativity and abilities and to convince the jury of their culinary skills. From a shopping cart full of ingredients the contestants had to prepare a dish of their choice within 40 minutes and serve it to the demanding jury consisting of our hotel manager, F&B manager and the chef. In the cooking duel, two lucky winners prevailed, each taking a work contract home with them.
The winners Jens Peter and Alexander Stickelberger were able to convince our jury with pasta risotto with bread salad and cod in dillsause as well as cod on orange fennel risotto. After the duel, the candidates were able to try out the evening service of the restaurant, to test our cuisine and to enjoy the evening as guests. The trained chefs will probably support our teams both in the banquet kitchen and in the à la carte restaurant in the future.
We are more than satisfied with the result of the cooking duel at the restaurant waterkant and are very happy about the enrichment and wish both a good start.
