A short insight.

The first day of apprenticeship for our new apprentices started at 9.30 am, charged and filled with excitement, curiosity and joy and in the best weather at the Empire Riverside Hotel - straight away with coffee and something sweet. After a short round of introductions and the first important briefings by Mr Kapp, our training and study coordinator, and the introduction of the management, Mr Ungermann and Mr Bartholomäus, our apprentices went straight to the first stop for lunch at the restaurant waterkant.

After the short break, with a delicious falafel on a delicate herb rice topped with hummus, the half-marathon of errands and new input continued: where hard work needs to be done, the right clothes must not be missing and these were picked up and tried on with a short introduction and instruction from housekeeping.

With their new work clothes in their pockets, the first of two hotel tours took place.The starting point was the beautiful Restaurant Port: a brief introduction to the kitchen and food & beverage team took the apprentices through our beautiful conference rooms to the highest point of the hotel - the Tower Bar. So that each and every apprentice knows what both of our hotels look like, we then headed up high into our Empire Riverside Hotel with the same procedure.

In the afternoon, the group returned to the event room, where coffee and other refreshments were waiting. More than half of the day had already passed, but there was still a lot of information, organisational matters and important ideas for the next three years to come.

The first of the two Orientation Days was slowly entering its final round. But before the day came to an end with a cosy dinner in the Port restaurant, there was one more special moment on the agenda: the check-in for the overnight stay in our own hotel. After all, the chance to be a guest at your own hotel is not to be missed!
