On 6th May, it was that time again: our apprentices once again had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and into the heart of the Altes Land.
Read moreTogether with their trainers, they paid a visit to our partner farm and, in keeping with tradition, adopted apple trees of the varieties "Topaz", "Rubinette", "Welland" and "Sweetie".
But what is the significance of our apple partnership for our apprentices? Every year, they make the trip to Europe's largest fruit-growing region, not only to enjoy the beautiful weather and the glorious apple bloom, but also to gain a deeper insight into the importance of sustainability and local agriculture for our company. It is a matter close to our hearts to pass on these values, especially to our junior colleagues.
During the tour of our partner farm, they learned first-hand about the history of the Altes Land and gained an insight into the work processes on an apple orchard; from sowing and blossoming to harvesting and processing the fruit. They also visited our adopted trees, which are growing diligently. The eventful day ended with a slice of apple pie among the blossoms.
We are looking forward to our next visit in autumn, when the fruits of our labor can finally be harvested and - more importantly - tasted!

Fancy a drink?
Until the apple harvest begins in autumn, you should make the most of your time and enjoy spring, preferably with a refreshingly fruity drink in your hand. So here is the recipe for this tangy cocktail just for you:
'Spring Blossom'
You will need:
4 cl Skin Gin Apple Kiss, made with apples from the Altes Land region
4 cl passion fruit juice
2 cl freshly squeezed lime juice
2 cl Giffard Rose Syrup
One egg white - you can also use aquafaba or cocktail foamer instead
Give it a shake, then top up with Schweppes White Peach and garnish with an apple blossom.
