Social commitment in a different way.

At the Empire Riverside Hotel, we see sustainability not as a mere obligation, but as a matter close to our hearts that drives us every day. For us, sustainability means much more than just environmental awareness - it also encompasses the social responsibility we have as a company in our community and towards our employees. It's about standing up for each other, ensuring better living and working conditions and promoting a culture of mindfulness and togetherness.

Over the past few months, we have been looking closely at how we as a hotel can make our contribution to a fairer and more just society. In doing so, we have once again realised that social commitment can find expression in many different forms - be it by promoting creative talent in our neighbourhood or by creating a working environment in which our employees feel valued and supported.

Art Empire

We are therefore delighted to be hosting a charity event ‘Art Empire’ on 15th September 2024, which combines our commitment to the art and culture scene in our neighbourhood with an important social cause. Our hotel will become a venue on this day from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm, where artists from the neighbourhood will present their works and offer our visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in their world free of charge. The artworks on display include works by Klaus Barkowsky, Fiete Frahm, Volker Hämmerling, Agnieszka Pasek and works by the Millerntor Gallery.

But it's not just about the art - it's about the people behind it and those who benefit from this exhibition. The funds raised will go to the ‘Schlumper’ studio, which provides creative space for artists with disabilities, and to the Millerntor Gallery, which is passionate about social justice and cultural diversity. With this event, we want to use the power of art to build bridges - between people in our neighbourhood and beyond.

Social responsibility in everyday hotel life

Social sustainability lives not only in our external commitment, but also in the heart of our company. It is particularly important to us that our employees feel comfortable with us, that they enjoy and are motivated in their work and feel part of an appreciative community. But how do you manage to fulfil these high standards in a dynamic hotel business with a wide variety of working hours, different departments and a constantly running operation?

At first glance, this may seem like a huge challenge - almost impossible, you might think. But we have enlisted professional support to help us achieve this goal: We have taken an important step with the introduction of the ‘Hotelkit’ HR management tool. Developed by an experienced hotelier and specially tailored to the needs of the hotel industry, Hotelkit allows us to easily collect information, files, daily tasks and news in one place and make them equally accessible to all employees. This not only optimises communication and collaboration within the team, but also noticeably strengthens it.

This centralised platform makes every team member feel more involved and valued. Because we are convinced that a positive working atmosphere not only increases satisfaction, but also offers numerous other benefits - from saving resources and working more efficiently to a more sustainable everyday life.

And the best thing about it? These improvements help us to offer our guests even more unforgettable experiences. Because at the end of the day, satisfied employees are the key to happy guests - and together we are shaping a sustainable and successful future.
