Each year the harbour birthday takes place at the Landungsbrücken, in Hamburg. More than a million visitors from all over the country come to celebrate this event at the Elbe River. The maritime festival takes place from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th of May and is an attraction with a huge gastronomical offer, fireworks and more attractions on land and at sea.

More than 300 ships will be awaited, including majestic cruisers, museum ships, maritime service vessels, barges and many more. The celebrations will be spread around Landungsbrücken, the warehouse district Speicherstadt, HafenCity, fish market and the so called harbour museum in Övelgönne.

The opening of the harbour birthday takes place at the St. Michaelis during church services at 12pm. Afterwards the minister of economics, transport and innovation, will ring the ship’s bell on the museum ship Rickmer Rickmers to sound the official opening of this big spectacle. Further Highlights include the unique tugboat ballet and the huge AIDA firework display. Live music, food, drinks and a unique atmosphere at the Elbe River will make this event unforgettable!
