Our great commitment to ecological, economic and social sustainability has proven successful.
From now on, the Empire Riverside Hotel at Hamburg's harbour belongs to the certified GreenSign Hotels and has been awarded Level 4 out of 5 for its sustainability.
Read moreAt a sustainability event, our General Manager Enrico Ungermann got to know the GreenSign team and they exchanged information about the current status of our hotel, successfully implemented projects, challenges and goals.
After a comparison with other providers who could support us on our way to becoming an even more sustainable company, we finally decided on GreenSign. In addition, GreenSign has also recently reached a huge milestone - the seal has been recognised by the international Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and is now also looking forward to the international expansion of the seal.

Suzann Heinemann - Founder & Managing Director, GreenSign Institut GmbH to Hotelier.deThe GreenSign sustainability certificate, which exists specifically for hotels, has an 81-page catalogue of criteria that includes many points specifically geared to the hotel industry, from economic and social responsibility to communication, environmental resources and waste management to regionality and quality management.
We already fulfil more criteria than the catalogue of requirements for GreenSign Level 4.
Our project plan currently contains 136 points, some of which have already been worked through. Others are not feasible for various reasons, as they are prevented for legal reasons or would not be economically viable.
Nevertheless, we are constantly developing and are very proud of the GreenSign certificate. - The seal and all that has already been implemented are just the beginning of our journey to contribute to climate protection and to work for equality and diversity on a social level.
There is no standing still at the Empire Riverside Hotel.

We give bees a place to call home
Since 10 May, our new neighbours the bees have moved in on our roof. The bees are now part of our team and enrich our urban environment not only with their presence but also with their delicious honey.
