From now on, it's time to dive into the world of the hotel industry and gastronomy, whether as a hotel specialist or as a cook. There is a lot for everyone to discover here. We are very happy to embark on a journey of discovery together with our newcomers and to host you together. Especially in times of Corona, when a shadow lies over the hotel industry and tourism, it is all the more gratifying that there are courageous and enthusiastic applicants who share our passion and look to the future with optimism.

We asked our two Empire Riverside Hotel apprentices Nadezda Befus and Nicolas Scherer a bit to get to know them better. Whether fun facts or helpful tips for future applicants ... here's more:

Nadezda Befus (Köchin)

I decided to do this training because...
working as a chef is one of the most demanding and at the same time most creative professions.

That's what drives me, that's how I motivate myself:
The opportunity to learn and try out new things are my motivation. Every day you learn not only new flavours and tastes, but also lots of cool tricks and techniques that you can also often use at home.

If I had superpowers, they would be the following:
Recharge my own energy tank without investing time in sleep.

Fun fact about me:
I am Hamburg chess champion 2011

My funniest, most embarrassing or most exciting application moment was:
Editing the cooking video. The cooking itself was fun as always, but the video editing cost not only my nerves but also those of my family.

To future applicants, I give this tip:
I don't have any clever tips. Be the way you are, because every person is unique.

Nicolas Scherer (Hotelfachmann)

I decided to do this training because...
my family has been working in the gastronomy for a long time and I always wanted to do something in the gastronomy too; the hotel industry seemed the best to me.

That's what drives me, that's how I motivate myself:
To get up every day with a smile and to see the training as a chance to develop myself.

If I had superpowers, they would be the following:
Strength, flying and mind reading.

Fun fact about me:
I love being out in groups, but also do best on my Own.

My funniest, most embarrassing or most exciting application moment was:
When I forgot the hotel name of a hotel and then accidentally said a different name.

To future applicants, I give this tip:
Be confident and prepared for questions.

Does an apprenticeship sound interesting to you?
